at least...
i like when people start a sentence with 'at least...', it tends to lead towards a statement of gratitude. Im not talking about some severely sappy testimonial for the unequivocal mysteries found within the universe. but i do think it's a beautiful occasion when we consider the bigger picture...because no matter how large or small the sentiment, a sense of appreciation should never be too far from our thoughts. my personal favorite is '...at least its not raining.'
this reminds me of punch-line to a super corny knock-knock joke...
'orange-ya glad i didn't say bananas!' hahahha...

baaa-studs...
when do you, as a sheep herder, start to think...'these sheep arent really doin their part to entertain me!! i should strap on some lights and make em earn their keep.'
AMAZING! i am nothing short of impressed when people find the inspiration to get so far away from task...they unknowingly create an entirely new precedent.
hahah...its all in good pun.

the 'convenient' truth...
is a type of circumstance i have encountered in life when a person tells you something credible that doesn't really benefit you...but rather themselves. it is, by the way, truthful...but ultimately not helpful. personally, i call it 'self-fulfilling honesty'. and up until recently i was only aware of it as one dimensional...now i see that there is this an entire spectrum within the responsibility of forthrightness and circumvention. if you havent ever put much thought into it, consider this simple example....have you ever had someone tell you that there are rumors floating around about you? this is a case of being told the truth about something you really didnt need to know. the person telling you relieves themselves of any ill feelings or burdens and puts the obligation of knowing something like this square on YOUR shoulders. you think...'THANKS, i could have gone my whole life without knowing that...' because how does this actually help you?? if the truth shall set you free, why does it feel incommodious?
now...the opposite side of this situation is when your told exactly what you want to hear regardless if it is true. in an attempt to avoid a confrontation...the person tries to pacify you. it serves in the same way. again, the comfort and the convenience of these words are not at all working in your favor. you are left with a similar sensation of dissatisfaction...
strangely enough, i have found, these moments usually come from someone who cares about you and acts with the utmost sincerity. people who are willing to tell you or either try to protect you from the unpleasant truth usually aren't malicious people.....they should just acknowledge and accept their true motivation.

dreamin...
from the team that will soon bring the highly anticipated film 'where the wild things are'...have made alil vignette for adidas. i enjoy it because the theme is about how dreams are just as significant to anything else in our life experience. the goal is to never loose the tools of imagination that we had as children. but sometimes it feels like your holding a large piece of wet paper in a hurricane...the way life tries to strip you of innocence and wonderment.
le coup...
in pursuit of his dream, phillippe petit relied on his commitment to senseless beauty and unbridled passion. he lives each moment like a wondrous work of art. the way he speaks, moves and imagines has totally captivated my attention and truly inspires me. i think every artist has a wish to transcend the confines of society and live in beauty...

happiness...
i recently read...by a prolific man (pictured above) that happiness is not an emotion we feel but rather a choice we make. i agree. i could ramble on and on about emotional utopia or my metaphysical 'politics' but i will say that i believe that we are in the driver seat of life. now...no one is perfect and not every hurdle can be overcome, but when we remember the power of positivity and conviction...more things will become possible.
here are just some similar concepts that constantly float through my mind:
1. no one should have more faith in your abilities than you do
2. if you say your gonna do something, do it
3. pain is relative and no one has it on easy street no matter how it appears
4. be grateful...always say thank you
5. inspiration is a gift, dont waste it(its also very temperamental, so act quickly)
6. personal growth is uncomfortable...thats why they are called 'growing pains'
7. always look for the lesson...
